Okay, here is my experience remaking the Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG, original order:
So, I’ve been eyeing the YSL JUNE BOX BAG for a while now, and I finally decided to give it a go and make my own. I started by gathering all the materials I needed. I wanted it to look as close to the original as possible, so I spent some time finding the right leather and hardware.
I began by cutting the leather into the correct shapes and sizes, following a template I drew up based on pictures of the original bag. It was pretty tricky to get the curves just right, but I managed.
- The first piece I worked on was the main body.
- Next, I cut out the side panels and the bottom.
- Then the flap and the strap were measured and cut.
After cutting, I started assembling the bag. I stitched the side panels to the main body, making sure the seams were strong and neat. Then, I attached the bottom piece, which was a bit of a challenge because it had to fit perfectly to give the bag its boxy shape.
The next step was working on the flap. I carefully stitched it to the main body. Once the flap was on, I focused on the iconic YSL logo. It’s super important for the bag to look authentic, so I made sure the logo was polished and precise, just like on a genuine YSL bag. I had a metal piece that looked just like it, and I carefully affixed it to the center of the flap.
I also remembered reading somewhere that Yves Saint Laurent started using serial numbers in their bags in the early to mid-2000s. I added a little tag inside with a made-up serial number, just for fun and to make it feel even more real.
Finally, I added the strap, and the bag was complete! It felt really good to see it all come together. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It looks really close to the real deal, and I learned a lot during the process.
I carried it around for a few days, and I got some compliments, which felt great! It’s a solid bag, and it holds all my essentials. Plus, I did it myself, which makes it even more special to me.
This was a fun project, and I’m happy I took it on. It’s not exactly like the original, but it’s my version, and I love it. If you’re into DIY and love fashion, I definitely recommend giving this a try. Just be patient, take your time, and enjoy the process!
