Okay, here is my blog post about remaking the PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag:
So, I started this whole project because, well, I’ve always loved those fancy designer bags, but my wallet? Not so much. I saw this beautiful PRADA Galleria Saffiano bag, the medium one, and I thought, “Why not try making one myself?”
First things first, I needed to get my hands on some materials. I spent a good chunk of time hunting for Saffino leather. I did not buy real leather, just something that looked similar. I found some decent-looking stuff online, not the real deal, but it had that signature textured look. Then, there was the hardware. This was a bit tricky. I searched high and low, comparing prices and quality, until I got all those shiny buckles and the iconic PRADA logo. It was such a pain!
The real fun began when I started putting the bag together. I am not a pro at this, but, I followed some bag-making tutorials I found online. They were super helpful. Cutting the leather was nerve-wracking because any mistake will show, especially on this leather. I carefully measured everything, drew my patterns, and slowly cut out each piece.
- First, I sewed the main body panels.
- Then, I attached the bottom, which was pretty thick and hard to work with.
- Next, I worked on the handles. This was tough because they had to be sturdy and look good. I messed up a couple of times and had to redo them.
- After that, I lined the inside with some nice fabric, which was way easier than dealing with the leather.
The most satisfying part was attaching the hardware. Seeing the logo and the buckles on the bag made it look so much more legit. But let me tell you, getting the logo perfectly centered was a struggle. I kept adjusting until it looked just right.
Finally, after a lot of work, some frustration, and a few minor injuries from the sewing needle, I finished the bag! It’s not perfect, but I am darn proud of it. It actually looks like a high-end bag, and I saved tons of money by making it myself. Plus, I got the satisfaction of creating something with my own two hands.
What I Learned
This project taught me a lot about patience and attention to detail. It also showed me that you don’t always have to buy expensive things to get the look you want. Sometimes, you can just make them yourself, and it is so worth it. I am not gonna lie; this was tough, but I would totally do it again. Maybe next time, I will try a different style or color. Who knows?
