Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG for a while now. I finally decided to try and make a remake of it. You know, the one they call the “LE CARRé” from their online store. It’s a real beauty, but the price tag? Ouch. So, I thought, why not try to remake one myself?
First things first, I started looking everywhere online. I mean, I needed to see this bag from every possible angle. I searched for pictures, read descriptions, anything I could find about this BLACK LE CARRé satchel in BOX SAINT LAURENT. They say it’s an “original order,” whatever that means. It sounds fancy, though.
Gathering the Materials
Next up, I had to figure out what this bag is made of. I found out that it uses this really nice leather, they call it “BOX SAINT LAURENT” leather. I tried to find something similar. It was tough, but I managed to get my hands on some pretty decent leather that looked and felt somewhat similar. Not the real deal, but close enough, I guessed.
- Leather: Found some good quality, similar-looking leather.
- Lining: Got some fabric for the inside. I think the original uses some fancy stuff, but I just picked something that looked nice and sturdy.
- Hardware: This was tricky. The original has this shiny gold hardware. I found some similar buckles and clasps online, but they weren’t cheap!
The Making Process
Then came the hard part. Actually making the bag. I’m no expert, mind you, but I’ve dabbled in some DIY projects before. I started by sketching out the design, based on all the pictures I had collected. Then, I cut out the leather pieces, trying to be as precise as possible. Sewing it all together was a real challenge. I don’t have one of those fancy sewing machines, so it was all done by hand. Took forever, but I think it was worth it.
The lining was a bit easier. I just had to cut it to the right size and sew it inside the bag. The hardware was a pain to attach, especially the YSL logo on the front. I did my best, but it’s definitely not perfect. I learned that the original bags have serial numbers and stuff, but mine obviously doesn’t. I also read somewhere that a guy named Hedi Slimane changed the brand name a while back, but that didn’t really affect my project.
The Final Result
After many hours of work, I finally finished my remake of the Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG. It’s not an exact replica, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It looks quite similar to the original, at least from afar. Up close, you can see some imperfections, but hey, I made it myself! It’s unique, and I learned a lot in the process.
Would I recommend doing this? Well, it depends. If you’re looking for a fun and challenging project, and you don’t mind not having the real deal, then go for it. But if you want the perfect, authentic YSL bag, you’re better off saving up and buying it from the official store or maybe finding a good deal online from a trusted seller. As for me, I’m just glad I tried it. It was a fun adventure, and now I have a pretty cool bag that I made with my own two hands. I heard they also have a bag called “Collge,” maybe I will try that one next time. Oh, and if anyone’s looking to clean one of these, I saw that they offer a cleaning service for YSL bags. Pretty neat, huh?
