Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with watches for a while now, and I gotta say, this Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface, the original order one, it’s something else. I mean, I’ve seen a lot of watches, but this one, it’s got that classic vibe, you know?
First off, I started by doing some digging online. Found out that JLC, they’re like the big shots in the watch world, and this Reverso line, it’s their iconic thing. This particular model, the Tribute Monoface, it’s a nod to the original Reversos from way back. It is said that it has expanded the Reverso Tribute Collection with new Monoface. I just tried to get one to have a look.
Unboxing and First Impressions
When I finally got my hands on it, the packaging, it was pretty slick. Simple, elegant, just like the watch itself. Took the watch out, and man, that silver-grey dial, it’s so clean. And the hands, they’re like these sharp, little swords. And when I looked closer, I knew that it was equipped with the hand-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822, which is amazing.
Wearing It Around
I strapped it on, and it felt good. Not too heavy, not too light, just right on the wrist. I wore it to work, to dinner, even just around the house. And you know what? People noticed. I got a few “Hey, nice watch!” comments, and a couple of people even asked to see it up close. This watch builds a 38-hour power reserve and offers water resistance to 3 bar (30 metres).
The Flip Side – Literally
Now, the cool part about the Reverso is that you can flip the case around. This one, since it’s a “monoface,” it’s got a blank back. I read somewhere that you can get it engraved, which is a pretty neat idea. Maybe I’ll do that someday. I learned that a reverso is a poem with two halves. In a reverso, the second half reverses the lines from the first half. That was cool, I guess.
Final Thoughts
All in all, I’m really digging this watch. It’s not flashy, but it’s got that understated elegance. It’s the kind of watch you can wear with a suit or with jeans and a t-shirt, and it just works. I heard that JLC has a way more diverse portfolio of watches with some incredibly high complication movements and finishing. They factor that into an inevitable lower volume of manufacture, their unit prices go up. It’s inevitable, really. But I think it is worth it.
- Pros:
- Classic design
- Great build quality
- Comfortable to wear
- Flippable case
- Cons:
- It was said that it is a little bit pricey but worth it.
- Not much use for the flip back because I haven’t got it engraved.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface. It’s a solid watch, and I’m happy to have it in my collection. Maybe it is one of the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute models, including monoface and steel duoface tourbillon. If you’re looking for something classic, with a bit of history, and that feels good on your wrist, check it out.
