Alright, so, I finally took the plunge and decided to remake that PRADA Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag. You know, the one that’s all over their official flagship store and just looks so darn classy? Yeah, that one. I saw it, I loved it, and I thought, “Hey, I can make that!”

First things first, I spent a good chunk of time just staring at the pictures online. I mean, you gotta study your subject, right? This bag, the Galleria, it’s been around since 2007, and they keep remaking it, so it’s like, a total classic. Apparently, it takes 83 pieces to make the real deal. 83! Can you believe that?

I started with a visit to the official store, I tried to look into the product details, but they all seemed to be in German or something, and I could barely understand them. So I had to rely on the English website for some basic information, but it was really limited. I guess I need to learn German.

So, I grabbed some black leather. Not sure if it’s the exact “Saffiano” type, but it’s got a nice texture. Also, got some gold-tone hardware because that’s what the bag has. I even found some fringe detailing stuff that looks pretty similar. Triangle logo? Check. Hanging key fob? Check. Adjustable shoulder strap? Check.

  • Gathering materials – this was a whole adventure in itself. I was driving all over town, hitting up different craft stores.
  • Cutting the leather – okay, this was the scary part. I was so afraid of messing up. I used a template that I drew.
  • Sewing – I dusted off my old sewing machine for this. It took some practice, but I got the hang of it.
  • Putting it all together – this was like a 3D puzzle. But slowly, the bag started to take shape.

It was a lot of work, a lot of trial and error. I had to redo a couple of parts because I messed up the measurements, I got frustrated, and there were times I wanted to just give up. But I kept going, and guess what?

I finished it. My own version of the Prada Galleria Mini-Bag. It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few wonky stitches here and there, but I’m pretty darn proud of it! It really looks like a mini version of the one in the store. And you know what the best part is? I made it myself!

Next time, I’ll try to record every step and detail, so I can share the whole process better, it was definitely a good time.
