Okay, so, I wanted to get my hands on one of those fancy Yves Saint Laurent LE CARRé SATCHEL BAGs. You know, the ones that scream “luxury” but in a quiet, classy way? But, man, those things are expensive! Like, really expensive. I saw one in a store once, I decided to start looking for ways to make one myself.
First, I hit the internet, doing tons of research. Looking up pictures, reading articles, you name it. I wanted to know everything about this bag – the size, the shape, the materials, the whole nine yards. There are a bunch of websites out there, and they all talked about how this bag was the real deal, made with top-notch leather. And the color I wanted? Cream. That soft, dreamy cream that just looked so elegant.
Next, I started gathering my supplies. Now, I’m no professional, but I’ve dabbled in a bit of crafting here and there. I found some good quality leather, not the super expensive stuff, but decent enough that it felt good to the touch. And the color, oh, I managed to find the perfect shade of cream. It wasn’t easy, mind you. I went to a bunch of stores, comparing swatches until I was cross-eyed.
Then came the hard part – actually making the bag. I drew up a rough pattern based on all the pictures I’d seen. Lots of measuring, cutting, and re-cutting. It was a real trial-and-error situation. My living room became a bit of a disaster zone, with leather scraps and tools everywhere. My cat, Mittens, thought it was a great new game, batting at pieces of leather.
- Drew a pattern based on pictures
- Measured and cut the leather
- Assembled the pieces (this was the hardest part!)
- Added the hardware (buckles, clasps, etc.)
The sewing, oh boy, the sewing. Let’s just say I got pretty good friends with my sewing machine. There were a few mishaps, a couple of broken needles, and maybe a few choice words uttered in frustration. But, I kept at it. Slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape.
Finally, after what felt like forever, it was done. My very own, handmade, not-quite-YSL-but-still-pretty-awesome LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG. It wasn’t perfect, of course. There were a few wonky stitches here and there, and maybe the shape wasn’t exactly like the original. But, you know what? I made it. With my own two hands.
The Result
And it felt amazing. It was like holding a little piece of that fancy world, but without the crazy price tag. And every time I use it, I get a little thrill, knowing the story behind it. It is not just a bag, it is a story. It’s a reminder that you don’t need to spend a fortune to have something beautiful and special. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter. I made this bag. It was a tough, but finally it was there.
So, yeah, that’s my story of recreating the YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG. It was a journey, a messy one, but totally worth it in the end. I got my cream, fancy bag and my cat got a new toy. Win-win.
