Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this watch, a copy of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar. Yeah, that’s a mouthful, right? But that’s what it’s called.
First off, I found this thing online. I was looking for a perpetual calendar, and the real Jaeger-LeCoultre ones are, like, forty grand. Yeah, I can’t do that. So I started looking at replicas, just to see what’s out there.
I stumbled upon a site that had a bunch of different ones. I read some reviews, looked at some pictures, and finally settled on this one. It looked pretty good in the photos, and the price was way better than the real deal. I placed an order, paid online, and then the waiting game began. And let me tell you the waiting time is the most annoying part.
After a couple of weeks, the package finally arrived. I opened it up, and I gotta say, I was pretty impressed. This thing looks and feels like a real watch. It’s got some weight to it, the strap feels nice, and all the little dials and stuff are there.
Now, I’m no watch expert. I don’t know all the technical terms and I’m not gonna pretend to. But I started playing around with the buttons, trying to figure out how to set the date and all that. It took me a while, and a lot of Googling, but I finally got it.
I’ve been wearing it for a few days now, and it’s been keeping time pretty well. I mean, it’s not perfect, but it’s close enough for me. It is not easy to set up, but once you have set it up, you are good to go.
Is it worth it?
- Well, if you’re looking for a watch that looks like a fancy, expensive one, but you don’t want to spend a fortune, then yeah, maybe.
- But if you’re a real watch person, and you care about all the details and the craftsmanship, then you’re probably better off saving up for the real thing. Or maybe checking out the used market, I’ve heard you can sometimes find deals there.
For me, it’s good enough. I like how it looks, and it does what I need it to do, which is tell the time. Plus, it’s a perpetual calendar, which is pretty cool, even if it’s not the real Jaeger-LeCoultre. But for some people, the real one might be their dream.
It was definitely a fun little experiment. And hey, maybe one day I’ll get a real one. But for now, this will do just fine.
